Together, we have over 50 years of experience caring for children. We started Rock Creek Pediatrics to continue to provide the best evidence based personalized care in partnership with the families we serve and increase access in our community. Our goal is to educate families in preventative strategies and to foster healthy lifestyles from birth through adolescence. We are proud to remain a provider owned and managed independent pediatric practice.
Dr. Karen Lanni has been taking care of children for over 20 years. She earned her Bachelor’s in Science degree in Biology at the University of Notre Dame and then attended UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in her home state of New Jersey. She went on to train in pediatrics at St Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia and worked an extra year as chief resident at Albert Einstein Medical Center.
Dr. Lanni moved to Maryland to be with her husband and start a family. Initially, she spent 8 years in private practice in Charles County, Maryland. There, she treated patients in the office as well as rounded on inpatients and newborns in the nursery at 2 local hospitals.
Once her children were born, she joined a private practice in the White Oak area of Montgomery County to be closer to her family and become involved in her children's school and after school activities. She spent time volunteering at St. John the Baptist School on the COVID task force, wellness committee, and Girls on the Run. In addition, she has enjoyed volunteering alongside her children at a local food pantry and canine shelter.
Dr. Lanni believes in eating whole foods, getting outside to play, interacting face to face with friends, and limiting screen time/social media access to set kids up for a stronger, healthier future. Taking care of children and their families truly is an honor and privilege.
